We made it to San Diego! It was so terrific to see Dad. He was extremely excited to see you too. We had tons of events planned that kept us busy.

We took you to the ocean for your first time. You laughed as the waves came closer and closer. You weren't too sure that you enjoyed it when the water actually hit you, but you had a great time.

Then we went with Grammy and Grandpa and rented a push bike for a little tour around the island.

We went to "Magic Kingdom". So much fun! You have an amazing group of cousins and they are completely ready for fun.

Grammy came for a week to help Mommy and spend some quality time with you. It is so nice to have such a supportive family. You never know how much you need them and want them until you don't have them close by. It makes the times you do have that much sweeter.

On Grammy's first day here we took her down to Downtown Disney. As we were shopping in the candy store I noticed that you were particularly quiet.

Not a good sign.

I looked into your stroller and low and behold you had decided to help yourself to a piece of taffy.

Lesson learned, no parking the stroller within arms reach of candy bins.

Fun times are yet to come!!!

My Kids Clubhouse

On Daddy's one day off we took you to a place called "My Kid's Clubhouse". It's this giant indoor playplace for kids. They even have a baby area with a mini rollercoaster.

San Diego Trip

On the first day we were there I was making some dinner and you two disappeared. I went into our bedroom and there you were. Daddy and you were just playing the guitar and singing away.

The Jesus skywriter is one of my all time favorites. This man puts in his flight plans and flies over Disney to skywrite these types of messages.

I love it. I think it is so admirable that this person puts forth all of this effort and takes all of this time and money to promote a positive message. And he does it without anyone knowing who he is.

So thank you Jesus skywriter. Your messages always make me happy and put a smile on my face.

So we made it through Easter and all of the traveling and Daddy's visit. Your schedule got so messed up and you have been so crazy and emotional.

Now that we are back to our schedule, you are so much happier. You are definitely a schedule boy. You want what you want when you want it. No cuddling to sleep for you, no sir. You want to sleep with your blanket in your crib. No playing quietly for you, nope. You want to sing and talk and get direct eye contact.

Daddy had to leave before Easter was here, but that's okay. Your Nana came down from Jacksonville and she made us an AMAZING Easter dinner.

We went on an Easter Egg hunt. You seemed a whole lot more interested in eating the grass then finding the eggs.

Your dad and I got to have a overnight stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Amelia Island. We haven't had a single night together since you were born. I was so excited to have some one on one time with your Papa. He is wonderfully fun to be with. We dropped you off with Nana and went 45 minutes north. I couldn't imagine being away from you. After all, I had never been apart from you before. I don't want to start with a long trip. One morning of relaxing and sleeping in was just what I needed and then I could come back to your.

On our way up, we saw lots of interesting signs like this one.

We got to the beach and had a fun meal right on the beach and started going into relax mode.

Then we had a wonderful bout of food poisoning. ALL NIGHT LONG. It was awful. Your dad and I spent the night taking turns puking in the bathroom.

That's right, this is the face your dad got to see in the morning. Pretty, right? Boy does life throw you some curve balls. Romantic getaway? I think not.

Last few days with Daddy

It's tough to say goodbye to your Dad. I know that we are doing this for a specific reason and it's only for a short time and that so many people need work and don't have it. We have so many blessings. And you and I get along really well and we have a blast together. But Dad adds a wonderful element. You and he are buddies. You just have a different relationship and I know that we both miss him when he's gone. So before he left we decided to take you to Epcot.

Here's you and Daddy and Chum. Not sure how any of you are feeling about this...

You and your dad are great friends. Amazing friends. You guys are also such similar spirits. I think you are both going to give me a run for my money, keep me on my toes.

Funny story. We were walking out of Epcot and decided to take a side street and leisurely walk out. Your dad stopped at this random spot and gave me a big kiss and then a long hug. It was night time, after the fireworks and we just held each other for a while, which is unusual for your dad because he is not big on PDA. All of the sudden you Dad says "Hey, that guy over there looks just like Steve Collins!" Steve was one of your Dad's roommates in college and one of his closest friends. Turns out, it WAS Steve and his wife and their beautiful little girl.

We were able to meet up with them again and celebrate Alice's 1st birthday. Little miracles, right? What are the chances of us going to Epcot at that time, walking down a side path and stopping to make out 10 feet from them?

So glad we got to see you guys!!!

Celebration Pie Festival

You read that right, little man. Every year in Celebration, FL they have the annual pie festival. It is a glorious time in a glorious place.

You pay $10 and you can have all the pie and ice cream you want all day long.

On top of that, there are demonstrations, activities, booths, food and music. The best part for us is that we were able to see some amazingly talented and fun friends whom we hadn't yet been able to see.

You see here the lovely and talented Laura Hodos. If you notice, we both have the same pose. It's a trick you learn for the camera. You turn to the side to make yourself look thinner and stick your tongue to the roof of your mouth so that you don't have a double chin. Also, the hand on the hip helps so that your forearm isn't squished against your side.

Actors, we learn quickly.

This is you with the AMAZING Kevin Bee. Kevin and Michael (his partner) are dear friends of your mommy and Daddy. Kevin cooks the most amazing food and is probably one of the most genuine people I know. We are blessed to have them in our lives.

First Time on a Swing

Here's yet another first for you. Your Dad and I decided to take a lovely long walk around Fort Wilderness. We walked and walked and walked and found this really fun little swingset. They did have baby swings, so away you go!

I love that you have an adventurous little soul. I LOVE it. Your dad and I like to explore and have adventures. Our lives, up to this point, have not been dull and you just add to the excitement.

You wake me up WAY before an actor should get up in the mornings. Once I see that little gloworm face, it's all okay.

You screech at the top of your lungs in the middle of church, restaurants, grocery stores, parties. I love that you are finding your voice.

You SCREAM at me everytime I try to put you in your carseat, change your clothes, change your diaper but I adore the fact that you have your own little personality and at such a young age have distinct opinions.

The "Adam" dance

Alright Xander, I will admit it. Your mom and dad are HUGE nerds. We are. We are completely uncool. I know it. BUT we have fun.

Your dad has an AMAZING dance that he does. It's hilarious and completely all his. I hope you get to see it someday and I hope that he humiliates you with it at least once. I personally think it's adorable.

A new twist and a work space

So I started reading one of my amazing friends' (Michelle and Don) blogs and I loved how she was writing it like it was for her kids. I am stealing this idea. From here on out, this will be a place for me to direct my thoughts toward Xander that everyone is welcome to read. THANKS MARKLANDS!!!

Xander, you are such a joy. Mommy can not get enough of you. You change every single day. It's amazing how much you are learning and how quick you are growing.

I hate having to work. I really do. I loved the first six months where I could stay home with you every single day. However, Daddy is going to school full time and having to be in shows at night so no ability to work. We also know that we need to make money. Thus the reason you and I are living in Orlando and Daddy is in San Diego. Your dad and I believe so strongly in following your dreams and following the path God has for you. Sometimes we are asked to do things that are difficult and just have faith that He knows what is best for us.

Luckily we have this Nemo family that is helping us. They love you and are helping Mommy all of the time. Plus, you are never far from Mommy, even when I am at work.

While we are here in Orlando, I have some amazing friends who are letting Xander come over to their homes so I don't have to put the Xman in Daycare. Because of this situation, Xander has made some amazing friends.

This is one of them. Meet Elliott. He is an adorable little guy with some amazing parents. Ben and Luana Parkes have really helped us out and they are my dear friends. Luckily Elliott and Xander are becoming awesome friends as well.

I have a lot of friends who are having or have had issues with heir kids not eating. Their children are picky, they won't sit still long enough for a meal, they are only interested in nursing, etc. Well that is most assuredly NOT our problem.

Xander eats EVERYTHING! I cannot keep this child from wanting real people food. He is always wanting to try new stuff or whatever I am eating.

This time it was pasta. He LOVED it! Of course, I had to grab the camera.

After the inital shock of the flash, I got the good stuff. I think, I THINK, he enjoyed his meal.

Disney with Dad

Daddy and Xander and I got to go to Downtown Disney. We went to Earl of Sandwich, walked Xander up and down, went to the Harley store, got a present for Uncle Jon.

Dad and Xander loved the Harley Davidson store.

While Adam was visiting, we got to go up and let all of the Daveline boys meet for the first time. Xander has the cutest little cousins in the world and he had a blast with them.

Mom and Dad came to visit San Diego for Dad's birthday and to see "Emma". I can not even tell you how wonderful it has been to be closer to them. I love my parents and am so incredibly grateful for their love, support and constant care.

We all went up to Jullian to enjoy the town and have a great laid back day.

Interesting Thoughts

It never ceases to amaze me how people decide to judge.

Adam and I are going to be living on different sides of the country. We are. This does NOT mean that we don't love each other. This does NOT mean that we put our careers first. This does NOT mean we put money ahead of our family. It may not be something that is right for your family and I totally understand that. Honestly. I understand.

Adam and I live our lives. Every single day we are each involved in the small details that make the moments we live become our lives. People can look at what we are doing and judge as a whole but they don't know all of the reasoning, the praying, the anxiety, the decisions and the promptings we've received.

I am not saying this to call anyone out. I am saying this because I have been on the receiving end of people judging me, my abilities as a mother and my dedication to my husband because of a decision we have made together as a family.

It's strange. It makes me wonder how many times I have judged someone rashly, too quickly, unfairly. There are so many times where I hear news and quickly say, "I would NEVER do that" or "What is she Thinking?" or "There would have to be another way. If I were her I

would _____________".

It's a great thing, really, my being on the receiving end. I need to have more empathy. I need to judge less harshly. I need to have more love and understanding for others.

It's good to have these humbling moments.....

Going Back to Nemo

It's funny how life works, huh?

Adam and I felt so strongly about coming to San Diego. We knew that it was right. We knew we had to do it. So we did, We are here. We left all of our friends and family in Florida and moved across the country to be here.

It is so great, the opportunities Adam is able to have. He is learning so much and so involved. I am so proud of him!

On the other hand, I have been having a difficult time adjusting. I have been praying so hard to get the comfort and peace I need to feel at home here.

Well, two weeks ago Adam and I went over our finances and realised how much more we need to make ends meet while we are in school. I am the only one who can work so I was starting to really feel the pressure. I was starting to look for jobs around here, but I hated the thought of leaving Xander with people I don't know. I hated how long I would have to work in order to make our life possible. I was just feeling down.

Enter Monday. I got a call from wonderful Disney Casting Director who offered me a full time contract. The offer was for Dory in "Finding Nemo the Musical." As many of you know, it's a part that I already know and love. Only problem-it's in Florida and Adam is in San Diego.

After getting the offer and crunching the numbers, it turns out that it is the exact amount we need in order to survive. By going away for 6 months I will be able to solve our financial problems. As Adam and I thought and prayed and prayed some more, a peace came over us. We went through month by month and found time each month for us to fly to see each other. We found a WONDERFUL friend who volunteered to watch Xander in her home so he wouldn't have to go to daycare. We have Adam's family super close and we have an AMAZING support group of friends down there.

While it is incredibly difficult to think of parting for any amount of time, it's beautiful to think of how we are led when we allow ourselves to open up to different possibilities.

God is so good!

I am grateful for the friends and family who have supported us so far and look forward to seeing all of our Florida friends soon.

Emma-The Old Globe

Emma is opening at The Old Globe. Adam is playing the role of Mr. Martin, the adorable farmer love interest of Harriet Smith.

My little guy is growing up so fast! He LOVES eating solid foods. He has attacked peas, sweet potatoes, pears and oatmeal.

He also loves playing with it and getting it ALL over his face.

Xander's first BYU game

While we were in Utah we went to a BYU basketball game. Apparently they have some pretty good players this year. Especially this one guy who can shoot and hit a lot of three pointers. Adam and I don't watch a whole lot of sports so it was great for Xander to go to a sporting event.

The Baby Belly

I thought that after having a baby my body would kind of just get back into shape. I was in pretty good shape before I had Xander, I tried to stay active and eat well and I didn't give into my cravings. When I left the hospital I was SHOCKED to see that I couldn't fit into my skinny jeans. WHAT?!?! I still had a pooch and flab. I did not sign up for that!

At 2 months after I had Xander I was still not happy with my body. I just looked kind of dumpy.

Enter the contest!

Adam and I decided to enter into a contest with each other to see who could lose the highest percentage of body weight. We kept tracks of the calories we ate and then did an exercise program called P90X to get in shape. At the end of the 12 weeks I ended up losing 8.1% of my body weight and Adam ended up winning with a loss of 11.3% of his body weight.

As awesome as it was to lose the weight it feels even better to be active and in shape.

A Goal 19 years in the Making

When we were little my mom and dad had a FHE (that's Family Home Evening, a night we put aside to spend time together as a family) about the Temple. The temple is such a special place to go as a family to ponder, pray and learn.

At that FHE, 19 years ago, we made a goal to be together in temple as a family in 2010. We colored a picture and put the year-2010-on it and hung it in the living room. Everywhere we lived we would have that picture. 19 YEARS!!!!

Enter January 2011. Jon, my youngest brother, is going on a mission. Before he left we were able to fulfill that goal of being together as a family in the temple. My older brother flew in from Virginia and I flew in from San Diego. It was the most amazing thing to be altogether there as a family.

I feel incredibly blessed to have such a precious family that I am a part of. They are supportive, kind, loving and all of them are my friends.

Life is funny....

You know, life is funny. It's not ever what I expect it to be but it somehow ends up better than I could have imagined. I feel so blessed to have a knowledge and belief in my life that leads and guides the decisions I make in my life. I feel like God has directed my life in a way that could not be better and one that I never would have been able to see.

Life is such a beautiful gift.

Christmas

Every year around Christmas (well any Holiday really) I would feel a little badly about our lack of children. We wanted a baby so badly and it seemed that the Holidays would just bring out that longing so much more.

This year we got to live that dream for the first time. I have to tell you, it was AMAZING!

We got to run up to Utah for the day to be with my family for Christmas. Here is a picture of Christmas morning. Jon, my little brother, is holding Xander and the adorable Sami is with them. She is SUPER excited for Christmas morning.

Adam's Next Project

Adam just got done with his first semester and the next day he started into rehearsal for this lovely show. It is being directed by Jeff Calhoun with music and lyrics by Paul Gordon.

Adam is meeting so many amazing people and having some pretty incredible opportunities down here.

So on Peggy and Amber's last day here, we went and saw Santa. He was not that jolly, but it might have been a long day.

A few days later we met up with Victor and Dorian at Coronado Island. The cupcakes and hot chocolate were delicious!

With the birth of Xander, I haven't put much up in the way of why we came out here to San Diego, Adam's Grad Program. They are such an amazing group of people. Talented, kind, accepting and all around great people.

Adam and his classmates just put on "Winter's Tale". Adam played multiple roles but his main role was Shepherd. He was hilarious! I was so proud of him. He also got a wonderful review.

Congrats to everyone in the MFA! You were all amazing!!!

It's the little things

I love being a mom. LOVE IT! I had someone ask me what I did all day and I wanted to laugh. I don't think anyone realizes how much work a baby is till they have one. The hours I spend talking, holding, singing, reading, feeding and rocking this boy are innumerable. And I am so grateful for it. I am so blessed to be able to be at home with him.

Look how cute his room is. Mostly because I have very crafty friends who know how to make lots of cute things!

UTAH!

One of the best things about moving to San Diego is that I am only a days drive to my parents house in Utah. After living across the country from them for the past 5 years, it's nice to be a lot closer.

My mom had surgery and Adam started in on rehearsals PLUS school so Xander and I headed up to Utah for 2 1/2 weeks to help, see family and friends and get some help in return.

Xander cracks me up. He has so many faces and is so expressive. I am so lucky to be able to have this one on one time with him. It's wonderful!

Here he is enjoying some time with my gorgeous sister Amy, her husband Brock and his cousin Sami. Aren't they a glorious family? I certainly think so!

While we were in Utah my sister-in-law, Jen, flew in for her nieces wedding. She brought Tommy along since she is still his meal ticket. While she went to the wedding, Mom, Dad, Xander and I took pictures of the two little cousins together. Yes, I got them matching outfits. I think they look adorable!

I had to include this one because Tommy looks like he is punching Xander in the face. Xander hit Tommy all day because he doesn't quite have the motor skills down, but I thought this little bit of payback was priceless!

Pain, Pleasure and Peggy

So I am not sure why, but I have no photos of Peggy. I think by the time she got down here I was deep in Newborn fog. Peggy was so wonderful and came down for a whole week to help us out. She helped with housework, early morning Xander time and company for me. It was so wonderful having her here, I was in tears when she left. Plus, Xan the Man missed his Nana!

Here is a picture of us trying to get Xander in the Boppy a bit too early. He's still a lump, a cute lump, but a lump.

This was the worst. This is what they tie your child onto when they circumcise them. I made Adam go in with Xander and he said it was horrible. The hospital that we delivered at wouldn't do the circumcision there. They had a rule that you had to wait until your son was 2 weeks old before they would do the procedure. Poor little guy. I could hear him screaming down the hall. Lesson learned: All circumcisions should be done in the hospital soon after birth. By the time they are two weeks old, they are too alert.

And here is the pure bliss. Once his circumcision had healed, he got his first bath. Xander LOVES baths. He just melts and smiles and coos in the water. We may have a future swimmer on our hands!

We've been lucky enough to have a few visitors

Kori came first. She was on her way to Anaheim to run a Disney Marathon but flew into San Diego to see us, deliver a car seat (THANK YOU KORI!!!) and see Xander. Unfortunately, she came at a time when the XMan was Screaming his head off. She was so sweet and looked amazing. Love you Miss Kori!

Next cam Uncle Keith and Uncle Brian. Keith trained in with us at "Finding Nemo-The Musical". He was my Marlin and we just loved being together. He and Brian came down for a little vacation to San Diego and they stopped by to say hi to the new little man.

Xander's First Sponge Bath

I Loved giving Xander his first bath. It helped to make everything so real.

Xander loved getting wet. He enjoyed the water and looking in my eyes. Mom was there the whole time to help.

I also found out that he totally relaxed when I washed his hair. AHHH! Relief!

I ALSO found out that he hates it when bath time is over and he has to get dressed. Nice set of lungs, this kid!

Mom and Jon and first days home

Because you can't be sure when your little bundle of joy will arrive (unless you are having a induction) my mom and little brother started driving the morning after I told them Xander was on his way. It was so great to see family!!!

We brought Xander home and Adam geared up for his first diaper change. Mom was there on standby just in case. Well Xander lived up to expectation and peed ALL over Adam. He doesn't look too mad though.

When we got home we had a beautiful delivery of Edible Arrangements from Joe and Jen. It was so big and delicious. It was bigger than Xander!!!

Mom and Xander and Adam and I went and walked around Balboa Park while Jon went surfing. I LOVE my Moby Wrap. It is so versatile and easy to use and keeps Xander close and comfortable.

First day of life

So I must say, being a parent is AMAZING!!!! Insane, but AMAZING. Xander's first night with us was pretty regular. He cried, I fed him. He is a really good eater, so no problems there. He basically just wanted to eat and sleep, which I here is normal;-)

Okay, we both were a little tired. What a day! Our whole lives are changed!!!

Alexander's Birthday!

So I started having contractions on Thursday, August 26th. I was at a regular check up and my Dr. decided to send me to the hospital to just check. We went, waited, got checked. I was 1 cm dilated and was having contractions every 8 min-12 min. They told me to go home and rest and if the contractions got closer together I should come in.

I had contractions all weekend long, went on lots of long walks and didn't sleep well at all.

Enter Monday morning at 3 am. I woke up to stronger contractions and much more frequent. i waited until 5:30 and woke up Adam. We got dressed, got ready took some pictures and went on our way.

When we got there, the check in area was closed so we went to the nurses station. They had no where to sit and after we checked in we had to stand around in a hall for about 10 minutes without any help. Finally someone took us to an exam room. They kept having doctors come in and check me. We were at a teaching hospital so every time they came in they had one doctor, one almost doctor and one student. They all got to practice on you. Wow! What fun that was!

I was finally admitted around 10:30am. The contractions kept getting stronger but I didn't want to get the epidural til later because I wanted to get up and walk around.

Here is my last pregnancy photo. This is when I was about a 5. It was uncomfortable but at least I got to move!

So at about 3pm I decided to get the epidural because they were going to break my water. The Anesthesiologist and his student came in. It took forever and it was a little disconcerting because he kept whispering "No, not there" or "I wouldn't do that". I kept wishing the actual doctor would do it.

After that, they came in and broke my water. I told them that they should get ready because the women in my family go really quickly once the water breaks. They just told me it would be at least 6 hours and that it would probably take longer because it was my first. They broke my water a little after 6 and so we got ready for a long night. Well, around 8 I started feeling like I wanted to push. I told the nurse, she smiled at me, said that it was too soon, but I could try if I wanted. She helped me get in position for a "practice" push. I did. She looked down and told me very firmly to stop and then went and got the doctors. Apparently his head was appearing in that first push.

All the doctors came rushing in, remember, teaching hospital, TONS of students. They all get ready, Adam and I are ready and they tell me to push.

Three contractions later and Xander made his entrance. What an amazing little guy!!!

Fish are Friends

When we moved, we had a ton of help. Thanks to all of our Nemo friends for making our moving easier. You guys saved the day!

These lovely ladies are the Lallatins. They are from our ward and they came over to help pack, scrub, clean and help. I will miss this family sooooo much!!!

Heather, Peggy and Sande threw us a BEAUTIFUL shower in Jacksonville right before we left for San Diego. It was so glorious!
